Roberto Cavalli the renowned Italian fashion designer , celebrated for his vibrant animal-print designs favored by celebrities, has passed away at the age of 83. His company confirmed that Cavalli, who established his eponymous label in the early 1970s, had been battling illness for some time. He is survived by six children and his partner, Sandra Bergman Nilsson.
Sergio Azzolari, CEO of Roberto Cavalli, expressed condolences on behalf of the company, stating that Cavalli’s legacy continues to inspire. Cavalli passed away at his home in Florence on Friday, as reported by the Italian news agency ANSA.
Known for his bold use of colors and innovative patchwork designs, Cavalli was a flamboyant figure with a penchant for art and distinctive style, often seen sporting tinted glasses and enjoying a cigar. His ventures extended beyond fashion into real estate, and he was a fixture in Milan’s nightlife scene, notably with his “Just Cavalli Cafe” nightclub.
Creative director Fausto Puglisi conveyed heartfelt sentiments, highlighting Cavalli’s enduring legacy and the impact of his creativity. The Florence-based fashion group, now under the ownership of Auriel Investment SA, will honor Cavalli’s memory with a funeral in Florence on Monday.
