President Droupadi Murmu conferred the prestigious Bharat Ratna upon LK Advani at his residence in Delhi. His tireless efforts in promoting cultural nationalism reshaped the socio-political landscape of India. He played a crucial role in safeguarding democracy during the Emergency and was instrumental in the reconstruction of the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya in 2024.
As a parliamentarian, Advani’s emphasis on dialogue enriched parliamentary traditions. Whether serving as Home Minister or Deputy Prime Minister, he always prioritized national interest. His accomplishments resonate as a testament to India’s inclusive traditions and its journey towards development.
At 96, Advani served as Deputy Prime Minister from June 2002 to May 2004 and as Union Home Minister from October 1999 to May 2004. He held multiple tenures as BJP president, demonstrating his significant influence on Indian politics.
