Gangu Ramsay, from the renowned Ramsay Brothers, dies at 83.

Renowned cinematographer and filmmaker Gangu Ramsay, part of the iconic Ramsay Brothers known for cult horror classics such as “Purani Haveli” and “Tehkhana,” breathed his last at a local hospital on Sunday morning. He was 83 years old.

The Ramsay family disclosed that Gangu Ramsay had been grappling with health issues for the past month. In a statement, they expressed deep sorrow at his passing and announced his demise at 8 am at Kokilaben Hospital.

Gangu Ramsay is survived by his daughter Geeta Ramsay and son Chander Ramsay. His last rites were performed at Oshiwara Crematorium at 2 pm on the same day.

Under the Ramsay Brothers banner, Gangu Ramsay left an indelible mark on the cinematic landscape, contributing his vision to over 50 iconic films, including “Veerana,””Bandh Darwaza,” featuring stars like Rishi Kapoor.

The Ramsay Brothers pioneeredorror films in the 1970s and 1980s, featuring a unique blend of horror and erotica, earning them widespread acclaim. Their films, filled with zombies, vampires, and werewolves, became synonymous with the genre.

His influence extended beyond the horror genre. He collaborated with actors like Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar, contributing to successful films such as “Aashiq Awara” and various “Khiladi” movies.

Beyond the silver screen, he also made significant contributions to television, working on popular shows like “The Zee Horror Show” and “Saturday Suspense.”

His legacy continues to inspire generations of filmmakers, marking a significant chapter in the history of Indian cinema.
