H5N1 bird flu outbreak experts says it could be 100 times worse than COVID-19.

Scientists have sounded the alarm regarding the recent bird flu outbreak in the US. According to a report from the Daily Mail, experts have stated that bird flu could be ‘100 times worse than the Covid pandemic’ due to its potential for high fatality rates.

Dr. Suresh Kuchipudi, a bird flu researcher in Pittsburgh, emphasized the urgency of preparedness, stating, “We are not talking about a virus that is yet to make a jump; we are talking about a virus that is globally present and already infecting a range of mammals.”

Another expert, John Fulton, highlighted the severity of bird flu, suggesting it could surpass COVID-19 if it mutates to maintain a high fatality rate upon infecting humans.

Bird flu, caused by Type A H5N1 virus, first emerged in 1959 and has been spreading among various animal species since 2020.

Symptoms of bird flu include cough, body aches, fever, and potentially severe pneumonia.

While H5N1 is not easily transmissible among humans currently, experts remain vigilant for any changes that could lead to a pandemic.
