Reports emerged on Thursday of the passing of Mukhtar Ansari, the notorious gangster-turned-politician. Ansari’s health had deteriorated in jail, prompting his transfer to Banda Medical College. Amid heavy security, he was later taken to Government Medical College in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda.

Outside the residence of Mukhtar Ansari in Ghazipur, crowds gathered to mourn the loss of the influential figure.

Allegations of Foul Play

Paramilitary forces were deployed outside Banda Medical College amidst allegations from Ansari’s brother, Afzal Ansari, suggesting foul play. Afzal claimed that Mukhtar Ansari was poisoned in jail, indicating a recurrence of poisoning incidents.

Health Concerns and Legal Troubles

Ansari’s health struggles continued as he complained of abdominal pain in jail, prompting his admission to a hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda. His lawyer, Naseem Haider, expressed concerns over Ansari’s ability to communicate effectively.

Legal Convictions and Financial Investigation

Mukhtar Ansari faced a series of legal battles, including a recent life imprisonment sentence for forged document use. Additionally, he was convicted in multiple cases over the past two years. Financial scrutiny intensified with the Enforcement Directorate attaching his assets in a money laundering probe.
