The Union Public Service Commission  announced on March 19 that the Civil Services Examinations (CSE) 2024, initially slated for May 26, 2024, have been rescheduled. The Prelims exam is now scheduled for June 16. This decision came following the Election Commission’s announcement of the Lok Sabha elections from April to June 2024.

Civil Services mains exams are planned to take place from September 20 over a span of five days.

Previously, the Commission extended the registration deadline for the Civil Services Examinations (CSE) 2024. The last date for registration was moved to March 6 (6 pm), with a correction window open from March 7 to March 13.

This year, the UPSC notified a total of 1,056 vacancies for CSE and 150 for IFoS. The CSE exam comprises three stages: prelims, mains, and the personality test. The preliminary exam will consist of objective-type questions, and candidates scoring above the cut-off marks will be eligible to register for the UPSC IAS Main examination.

As per UPSC’s eligibility criteria, candidates must be at least 21 years old and not more than 32 years old on August 1, 2024, i.e., born between August 2, 1992, and August 1, 2003, to be eligible for the exam.
